Why you'd want to live in Narragansett
The mix of residents in this coastal community includes year-round locals, seasonal residents, and summer/winter rentals. College winter rentals run terms of 9 months from September thru May, and summer rentals run May-August. Narragansett is a decidedly white-collar town, and home to many professionals, sales and office workers and service providers.
The town is famous for its beaches, saltwater fishing and other summer sports, such as biking and surfing. Originally a farming area, Narragansett rapidly developed into a summer resort and fishing community. Narragansett can be reached by following I-95 to Route 1 and is a 35 to 45-minute commute to Providence. Narragansett is one of four premiere, mainstream, towns in Rhode Island (Barrington, East Greenwich, the East Side of Providence, and Narragansett).
